How to be a member?

There are two main membership tiers within the Society of the Golden Keys Malaysia which are: 

  1. Malaysian Hotel Concierge (MHC)

  2. Les Clefs d’Or Member

 

Memberships to both tiers are not via application, but upon invitation based on certain qualification and standards set by the Society, in accordance to the Association’s charter. 

Qualifications for membership invites are as follows: 

 

Malaysian Hotel Concierge (MHC)

Qualified MHC members are recognized nationwide through the ‘Malaysian Key’ worn on the lapel of their uniforms. 

 

  • A minimum 2-years full time employment in a 4 to 5 star hotel , preferably in the capacity of a hotel Concierge, or a Front Office front-liner. (Guest service related)

  • 21 years old and above

  • A clean and professional employment record

  • Have been actively involved in the activities organized by the Society of the Golden Keys Malaysia

  • Recognized and recommended for membership by peers (minimum 2 existing Les Clefs d’Or Members ) based on character, participation and professionalism

 

Les Clefs d’Or

Les Clefs d’Or members are recognized worldwide through the two golden crossed keys worn on the lapels of their uniforms. 

 

  • A minimum 2-years full time employment and service in a 4 to 5 star hotel , in the capacity of a hotel Concierge, Assistant Concierge or Chef Concierge/Concierge Manager

  • A qualified and valid Malaysian Hotel Concierge member

  • 21 years old and above

  • A clean and professional employment record

  • Have been actively involved in the activities organized by the Society of the Golden Keys Malaysia

  • Recognized and recommended for membership by peers (minimum 2 existing Les Clefs d’Or Members ) based on character, participation and professionalism

Candidates that meet the above qualifications will receive an invitation to membership – where he or she will go through a selection process, which includes a written examination testing on Concierge skills and knowledge, followed by an oral interview with the Society’s Board of Membership.  

Membership Selections are held annually, before the Society’s scheduled Annual General Meeting.
